Preparing Your Boat

 

If your not familiar with the Boat Safety Scheme requirements, you may find the 'BSS Essential Guide' useful.

If your boat has been refitted, altered or appliances added since the last BSS examination, you can contact me prior to booking a examination to check if it will have any impact on compliance.

Before the examination please make sure of these points;

  • Have the previous/current certificate along with the appliance record if available.

  • Engine covers are removed or can be easily removed.

  • Gas pipe work joints and connections are readily accessible. 

  • Sufficient LPG and water if applicable, to run all the appliances for at least 10 minutes.

  • Batteries and fuses are easily accessible.

  • Batteries charged.

  • Inform the marina/landowner of the date of the examination and obtain any necessary permission required in advance of the visit.
